The International Opera and Ballet Festival «Chersones» is being held at the site of the ancient city of Chersonesus in Crimea. For the second time Vision Media Centre has organized the event at the request of the Government of Sevastopol and with support from the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Government of Moscow. Preparations for the event include installing of the open-air stage of unprecedented size and technical outfitting. World-famous ballet and opera stars came here to perform for the audience and visitors of the Chersones festival.
The International Opera and Ballet Festival “Chersones” is being held at the site of the ancient city of Chersonesus in Crimea. For the second time Vision Media Centre has organized the event at the request of the Government of Sevastopol and with support from the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Government of Moscow.

The festival invariably attracts undivided attention of the guests and residents of the region.

For the second year in a row, the opening day of the festival is marked by the presence of the highest state-level guests, representatives of culture and business.

In 2019, at the opening of the festival, the suite from the ballet "Spartacus" by A. Khachaturian was shown, and the opening of the ballet academy was timed to the opening day of the III International Opera and Ballet Festival "Chersones". Sergei Polunin has become the rector of the academy.

The main goal of the International Opera and Ballet Festival «Chersones» is to promote Crimea as a centre of classical culture and art in Russia, as well as to increase the tourist attractiveness of the peninsula for the Russian audience, foreign travellers and vacationers, with an emphasis on the cultural aspect.
The repertoire of the festival every year consists of performances by the best Russian opera and ballet companies and foreign performers. In 2019 and 2020, world-famous opera and ballet soloists, as well as collectives of the State Bolshoi Theater of Russia, the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater (NOVAT), the Moscow Novaya Opera Theater and many others became participants in the festival.

In the context of the Coronavirus epidemic spreading, when doctors, nurses, ambulance teams and all the people who support the work of medical centers, hospitals and clinics turned out to be the main defenders. A big special concert, in support of medical workers was implemented by The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, Channel One and Vision Media Center. For several hours of prime time, Russian music stars, cultural figures, opera and film stars shared their art and gave a standing ovation to the doctors.
