EMG is the most accurate and effective RNA detector of Covid-19 SARS-CoV-2. Unlike analogues around the world that focus on antibodies—meaning they can only detect the virus seven days after the onset of infection—EMG can offer results at the earliest stages of the disease. Detection requires as few as 50–100 copies of viral RNA. To put it into perspective, other testing systems currently require between 1,000 and 10,000 copies. The technique involves a loop-mediated isothermal amplification reaction—an improved analogue of PCR (polymerase chain reaction). This brings the analysis time from several hours down to 30 minutes, including sample preparation.

Besides the wide coverage in print media, the trip served as an opportunity for channel Russia 24 to shoot unique video content and produce special reports from Al Ula.

In February 2019, the Saudi authorities unveiled the Kingdom's first tourist destination – the natural and cultural world heritage site of Al Ula.
